Chapter 2 -Back to Basics

10/14/18

Looking back on last week's fight and looking forward to future ones, it seems our heroes are in a great place to take some practice. In this week's session, we take some time to acknowledge the youth and newness to gaming of many of the players, by offering a short "Basic Training" day, where they will be allowed to play through some fights that have no real game effect, but which are designed to test their characters, teach them new tactics, and enable them to learn how their skills and abilities can best be put to use in a risk- free environment. This is particularly important for the spellcasters who have to learn 5 levels of ability overnight, but also will allow the party to see where it is strong, and where it is weak.

The Basic Training will be followed with a short bit of exposition by the players on their characters- so everyone should come prepared to discuss who their character is and what they want from the world.

We will wrap up with a short session to carry the story forward a bit- but not too far so we don't lose our absent players. What will the heroes do about the sleeping Draqonspawn lizardman? What does the giant eagle rider intend to do? What is the plan- to go forth, or to go back? Is this shift to the future a blessing or a curse? A setback, or a golden opportunity? And what exactly does it mean to serve the Green or the Silver?

Sometimes it is impossible to move forward without knowing where you came from, for how else can one choose a direction in which to move?

Luna spoke to the eagle rider in elvish. He asked them if they served the Silver or the Green. Luna told him we serve neither. He told us of a bridge to cross the river. The party dumped the bodies of the slain lizard men in the river, killing the sleeping one as well. The party removed 5 green dragon scale emblems from the lizard men and distributed them to each party member except for T'Chell.

The party then mounted up and rode through the night along the river eventually coming to a bridge. When Callista set foot on the bridge, a wall of magical flame erupted. A gruff, barbarian looking man emerged from a nearby hut asking why we wanted to go over the bridge.

He told us of a dragon war where numerous dragons invaded the land. The end resulted in the Realm being divided up into various factions ruled by different leaders who serve different colored dragons. The dragons do not appear frequently anymore. Greenblood rules the Green from Cedarspoke, 75 miles up river. The Silver Sisters rule the Silver and the Farnthise elves. People are not really allowed to go from land to land, staying mostly in their areas. The man tells the party to summon a druid to get more answers. Luna speaks friend from another pillar and a different druid appears under a tree.
