Every child must be accompanied by at least one grownup(s) they know, please, for all to practice group-riding safety protocol. Once each Bike Bus is more established we will reassess, with the goal that students who can group-ride safely can join on their own.
Stay behind your Lead at all times
Keep about one bicycle distance between yourself and the bike in front of you to allow for time to stop
Your Sweep will be the last bike in the Bike Bus; stay ahead of this bike
On a two-way residential street, stay to the right and allow for oncoming traffic to past
If your Bike Bus has a Corker, allow them to fully stop traffic at a crossing before riding through the intersection. Your Lead will pace the Bike Bus to do this safely, so be sure to stay behind them.
If you have a child who is already a strong cyclist and wants to join the Bike Bus, they must stay with the group and follow group riding protocol described here. They can help model safe riding habits to other children on the ride who are still learning! Typically, the back of any group bike ride will travel at a more consistent, slightly faster pace, so encourage them to stay toward the end of the line.
