Hai (Thomas) Lin, Ph.D., P.E.

Welcome to Dr. Lin's Group

The goal of our research is to improve sustainability and resiliency of geotechnical systems that have been encountering non-standard issues and subjected to extreme climate events.  Our group focuses on understanding hydro-chemo-thermo-bio-mechanical processes in soil and leveraging this understanding to solve practical engineering problems. Current research projects include bio-mediated and bio-inspired processes for soil improvement and soil-structure interaction.

Our group promotes diversity, communication, and collaboration. To achieve this, we strive to (1) value each group member’s opinions and make everyone feel comfortable sharing their points of view, (2) treat each individual equitably by providing professional development opportunities and training for everyone, and (3) encourage each individual to act inclusively through communication and research collaboration among all members.

Announcement

Our research group is always looking for motivated and talented graduate students. Students with strong background in Geotechnical Engineering are encouraged to review my website and apply for graduate studies. See Research Positions
