This tour will travel over as much of the National Railways of Zimbabwe network as is practical in 6 days. It visits the capital city of Harare, the Capital city of the midlands - Gweru town, Bulawayo and the Rhodes Matopos National Park (where Cecil John Rhodes Was buried), the Hwange National Park (biggest park in Zimbabwe) and Victoria Falls (tourist capital of Zimbabwe). Included are three UNESCO world heritage sites, some outstanding scenery and wildlife.
Passenger trains in Zimbabwe generally run overnight and we will share these services, of which our luxury train will be attached . This gives you an opportunity to travel over some rarely experienced railways and to visit the destinations served by the trains. Where ever possible, a visit to some railway museums will be included.
The trains will be diesel electric hauled. Our group will be accommodate in a dedicated set of coaches that include a dining car / lounge and sleeper accommodation with hot / cold water and showers. We will be travelling with our crew who will be looking after you through out the whole journey.
Three short steam charters are offered using three different Garratt locomotive types. Zimbabwe is the only country that can offer these impressive locomotives, but they can only run if enough bookings are received to cover costs. If you want to book for a big group on a different itinerary, please get in touch with us.
