In this section of Technical Production students are introduced to introductory rapid prototyping methods as they work to design and produce a first stage electric guitar prototype. Techniques such as drafting, technical drawing and solid 3D modeling are used to prototype in this collaborative environment. (Fall 2015 & Spring 2016)

In this section of Technical Production students design and build a wearable system that augments a user's perception of the surrounding environment. Deliverables for this section include three wearable interfaces: a head mounted display that mediates user reality by modifying and remapping sensory input, a sleeve with embedded proximity sensor and haptic controls, and a vest that serves as an enclosure for processing and power. Students will fabricate with both natural and man made materials working under the theme of bio-mimicry and hybrid creatures.
Students will engage in ideation research, and prototyping of their concept. Design precedents will be conceptually focusing around culturally expressive wearable objects. Output for projects will be either visual or audio-based. ANIMAL: This Inspiration speaks about attributes, communication, or interaction. Inspirational tags: hunt, power, texture, gesture, color, pride/pack. DANCE: Movement, expression, and communication are elements this design challenge. Inspirational tags: genre, gesture, beats, battle, float. ANTHROPOLOGY: This inspiration asks designers to identify elements of a chosen culture and represent it in a celebratory way. Inspirational tags: tradition, artifact, tribe, history, future, identification.
Workshop: Urban Gaming Giving young people a more active and physical alternative to pre-designed multiplayer games, Urban Gaming transforms everyday surroundings into an interactive experience. While participating in interactive play, budding game designers will learn game theory, mechanics, and strategic design. Students will utilize the mobile application 7Scenes to gamify the NoHo area of Manhattan. High School: (9th - 12th grades)
CoLab is a FREE 8-day intensive workshop series designed to offer young artists ages 15-25 new, cutting-edge skills in animation, beatmaking, gaming, and 3-D design. Colab at CultureHub
Class: Wild Science is a Summer workshop for Middle School students, hosted by Wingspan Arts at the Urban Assembly of Applied Math and Science. Students will learn the basics of 3D modeling and exhibit their works in a virtual Minecraft style gallery.
Class: 3D Jewelry Design is a Summer workshop for Middle and High School students, hosted by Wingspan Arts at The Urban Assembly of Applied Math and Science.
