Free Gesture 2008

Free Gesture tracks and captures motions of gestural mark making for digital drawing. Housed within a brush-like pointing device, key sensors track the innate, fluid movement of artists, as they motion and paint in the air. Sensitive to kinetics, the physical brush utilizes these inputs as an intuitive means of control for the accompanying digital drawing environment.

Barbie's Voicemail 2007

Barbie's Voicemail is a VOIP driven public gossip forum, comparing the simulated cultural realities of toy icons against realities of urban culture. In varying demographic locations of New York, the world of Barbie overlaps with the urban world through a pink phone. If you answer it, you are connected to one of her friends who gossips about Barbie’s new multiethnic boyfriend. She then gives you Barbie’s cell number, and tells you to call her and tell her what you think. The database of voicemails left by New Yorkers can be browsed accessed online and will be archived for future use as a dataset.

Spy in the Lab 2007

SPY is a collaborative telepresence project and partnership between students at Parsons Communication Design + Technology, New York and Information Art and Design Tsinghua University, Beijing. An exploration of remote technology, SPY is a robot equipped with a camera was placed in the exhibition galleries in Beijing, and controlled via the Internet by Parsons Students and Faculty in New York City. Students were able to capture audio and video footage from the floor of the exhibition, which was then simultaneously screened on the gallery walls." ~Sven Travis, Dean, Parsons AMT School of Art, Media, and Technology

Bob Kerrey, President of the New School University. It was created by students in the New School's Design \& Technology Program to engage in alternative channels to communicate within bureaucratic systems.

Mobile Mumbai 2006

"Mobile Mumbai is a mobile media collaboration with Parsons the New School for Design. Used as a mobile connection and public mobile game experience between the past and present of Bombay and Mumbai India; users can explore previous Bombay sites such Bhoiwada Lockup, Ganesh Gully, and Hanuman Theatres, in modern Mumbai, via SMS interface and receive historical facts and experiences.
