I have always loved literature and creative writing. As a child, I filled countless journals with pages of poems and stories. I rarely shared them, believing they were too juvenile, too wordy, and too full of rhyme.
Over time, I began to appreciate and embrace my unique voice and style. Today, I write boldly and unapologetically, using rhythm and rhyme to express myself through poetry.
Here are some of my poems:
Not to Rhyme - A whimsical take on my talent for rhyming, despite my efforts not to.
Where I'm From - A poem celebrating and acknowledging the complexities of life in my home country, Jamaica.
Do It Scared - Written to encourage myself and others not to allow fear to prevent us from living and doing hard things.
Empathy - It's so important, especially in these times, to step into someone else's shoes.
I Drove Today - One of my greatest fears is driving. This poem outlines the uneventful experience of driving while afraid.
Is That the Best That You Can Do? - We can rise above negative experiences from our past. They don't define us.
