Bicameralism Barely Beats Unicameralism

Below is the joint coverage of the election provided in collaboration with the TBC.

USE: Hello and welcome to the joint-broadcaster coverage of the Unicameralism Referendum results

Terenitland: Hello!

USE: so, 14 to 6 in favour for bicameralism so far and now 21 to 19

Terentiland: I think this will be an incredible close election for sure

Broustan: Rhyssua why you do this

Rhyssua (EC): s u s p e n s e

USE: Do you stand by your poll predicting a victory for unicameralism? or do you think it could prove to be wrong @terentiland?

Terentiland: I think what that poll showed more than anything is that it is going to be a very close election. It could very well be possible that the Bicameralist's strong performance in the last debate helped to sway enough of those undecided voters that the results were flipped.

USE: now one worry is that Unicameralism may win but that the Parliament will refuse to pass it. do you think this could end up being the case?

Terentiland: If Unicameralism wins, there will still be a long hard fight ahead for anyone who hopes to implement it. It is important to keep in mind that a Constitutional amendment required 2/3s support in both chambers of Congress and they will need 2/3s of the House and Senate to not just support the result, but to support and agree on how the result will be implemented

USE: agreed I only hope that enough of the Congress and then the people will accept democracy

And it is all over

51% to 49%

I think we can both agree that the issue is far from settled and will surely be revisited in the future?

Terenitland: That is incredibly close!

What an amazing election.

The Bicameralists still have the upper hand, but the Unicameralists have been gaining a lot of support. Just months ago this would have been hard to imagine.

USE: Considering when I joined in May 2019, Bicameralism polled at around 66%, its massive dive in support proves that it is becoming increasingly unpopular.

Andusre: It was a close loss for the unicameralists, but trying to lay the groundwork for another referendum right now is just a bit tacky lmao

Terentiland: Absolutely

USE: Agreed, however I'm sure that the issue will be revisited soon enough

Terentiland: The earliest would be at the beginning of next term, so the Bicams have a little while to take it easy.
