Course Description
A creative, hands-on camp where students build their own carnival booths using cardboard and real makerspace tools. They learn practical economics as they test their games with excited elementary-school visitors and discover what makes a booth fun, fair, and successful.
This is a camp that blends creativity, building, and real-world problem-solving. Students will receive a budget and design and construct their own carnival booths—everything from tossing games to mini challenges—using cardboard, crafts, and supervised access to our maker space tools (laser cutter, 3D printers, and simple woodworking equipment).
Throughout the week, campers explore age-appropriate economic ideas such as pricing, supply and demand, cost of materials, and what makes a game appealing. They’ll test their ideas by running their booths for visiting elementary-school kids, learning how to adjust rules, prizes, and presentation to make their creations more engaging.
By the end, students develop teamwork, design skills, and confidence while experiencing how creativity and smart planning can turn a simple idea into a thriving carnival attraction.
