Scribes

Thescorre

Welcome to the Barony of Thescorre Scribal Guild page!

What are scribes you ask? What do they do? Scribes are Scadians who draw, ink, paint, and calligraph artwork based upon medieval illuminated books. We have visual artists, wordsmiths, and parchment makers, to name a few of the artists involved in this endeavor. In the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) many of these works take the form of special 'scrolls' that commemorate the contributions of participants when they receive recognition for their work, arts, or marshal abilities within the SCA.

Scribes study art and techniques of the middle ages, and endeavor to replicate the look of such exquisite pieces, while also personalizing them to create art specifically designed for the recipient. Yes, this informal association of artists pour their hearts into the work and then simply give it away.

There is great joy and camaraderie in being a scribe. Anyone with interest is capable of learning these techniques. You too, can acquire the skills to create such gorgeous artistry. Plus, we would thoroughly enjoy your company.
