How are Laws Made?
Federal laws are created and adopted by the National Assembly through the legislative process. Firstly, a delegate proposes a bill (draft law) to the National Assembly. Once a bill is introduced, it is assigned to a committee whose members will debate and amend it. After the committee approves the bill, it is returned to the National Assembly for debate and a vote. The Constitution of the Republic of Tinland requires that all legislation (bills and draft resolutions) be read three times on three different days. During this stage, additional amendments can be made and added to the bill. Finally, the National Assembly votes on the bill. If two-thirds of the delegates vote for the bill, it is given to the President of the Republic for signature. If the bill does not get the required two-thirds vote, then the bill is rejected.
Unlike in other systems, the President of the Republic does not have veto power. In other words, the President of the Republic can not reject any bill passed by the National Assembly.
Code of Statutes and Code of Resolutions
The Code of Statutes is the official library for all adopted acts of the National Assembly. The Code of Statutes is kept by the Clerk of the National Assembly and is updated once a new law has been adopted by the National Assembly and signed by the President of the Republic.
The Code of Resolutions is the official library for all adopted resolutions of the National Assembly. Similarly to the Code of Statutes, the Code of Resolutions is kept by the Clerk of the National Assembly and is updated once a new resolution has been adopted by the National Assembly and signed by the President of the Republic.
