Photo Carousel of the SuperDome's environment over time.
Since opening in 1975 the New Orleans SuperDome has gone through several upgrades to keep it in competitive in the annual bid to host the many athletic events which are sought by the venue in order to remain economically viable to the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. Because of this the SuperDome has been renamed 3 times it its history and is now referred to as the Caesars SuperDome. Each time the SuperDome has been renamed it has undergone remodeling in order to keep the experience fresh: (10) Image (11)

On August 29, 2015, Hurrican Katrina struck New Orleans and the Gulf Coast community spreading destruction far and wide. The New Orleans SuperDome was being used as a "Refuge of Last Resort" for as many as 30,000 citizens and endured major damage to both the interior and exterior as wind, rain and flood waters ravaged the city of New Orleans. The area that was chosen to be the site of the New Orleans SuperDome was an area of the city that had begun to suffer from urban decay and even had a cemetery on land which was eventually used to build a parking garage for the SuperDome. Because the first 3 decades of the New Orleans Saints existence was so full of losing locals began to say that the team and the SuperDome were cursed because it was built on top of a cemetery. In 2000 the New Orleans Saints brought in Voodoo Priestess, Ava Kay Jones, to perform a purification ritual in the SuperDome before a playoff game against the then St. Louis Rams. Coincidentally (or not) the Saints won their first ever playoff game that evening (13) Image (14)
