In addition, they are famous for the pangalay dance, a traditional form that existed before the arrival of Christianity and Islam in the Philippines' Sulu archipelago. This dance is characterized by the use of long brass janggay fingernails, flowing arm movements reminiscent of waves, and specific hand gestures known as bunga lima.
