Childhood Memory
In his childhood, when South Korea had limited entertainment options, he and his friends found joy in simplicity. They would venture to the local spring, forging strong bonds and relationships. In a time when technology and expansive amusement parks were scarce, they indulged in games like "Ttakchi Chigwi" and created fun with the simplest of activities, including playing in the sand. These carefree moments were filled with laughter and camaraderie, leaving indelible memories that lasted a lifetime.
Childhood Dreams
During his younger years, he didn't harbor grand dreams. Instead, he found solace and inspiration in going to church. Uncertain about what his dreams might be, he refrained from setting them, fearing the disappointment of unfulfilled aspirations.
Shifting Perspectives on Happiness
In his childhood, happiness was synonymous with being cherished by his mother. As he was handicapped as a child, his mother's special love meant the world to him. He fondly recalls winters when she would buy him delectable treats from the market, indulging his requests for special, sometimes costly, foods. Simple pleasures, like trying new ice creams at old-time cafes, brought him immense joy .Now, as he has many children and grandchildren, happiness takes on a different meaning. It's about witnessing his children thrive and his grandchildren living healthy, joyful lives. The sight of his offspring fills him with happiness. He also attributes happiness to the blessings he's received from God throughout his life. He's profoundly grateful for the abundant life God has provided him each day.
Immigration Journey
He followed his parents to America when they immigrated to the United States. At the age of 19, he joined them in the United States. However, he couldn't enroll in high school due to his age, which led him to find employment immediately to contribute to the family's income. Despite the challenges and adjustments, he approached his new life with gratitude, recognizing that God had guided him to a less competitive existence than the one he left behind in Korea. His immigration journey was guided by his faith and trust in divine providence.
