EPISODE 22

Leap of Faith

A boom of nutrients coming from western ocean currents has produced an invaluable moment of abundance for the local fauna. In the last few years, the seas have been strangely depleting. The Stenopterygius managed to be one of the most successful ichthyosaurs to endure these troubling moments, being generalists and often nomadic, being able to move from place to place, content with any sort of small fish or cephalopod that they encounter. But even they rejoice at a sudden bloom of Leptolepis, that gather in from the blue vacuum.

Patiently, Thiemo has been waiting for a moment like this.

Being a large adult Temnodontosaurus is hard, during instances like these. One false move, and he could be missing his very last chance to get a proper meal.

Thiemo has to choose the right moment to strike.

A little luck has never been more desirable.

The Stenopterygius rushes to the surface in an attempt to escape via an aerial leap... but Thiemo won't be left behind on this stunt.

As if his massive scale of nearly 4 tonnes was nullified, Thiemo jumps several meters over the surface, with an impact so grateful that the Stenopterygius has absolutely no chances of surviving this encounter.

In a massive struggle between life and death, only the most calculating and determined predators get the prize, in the end. And even in his most desperate moments, Thiemo can still show he is an impressive model for how the life of a Temnodontosaurus really was.
