THE LIFE OF A

TEMNODONTOSAURUS

180 million years ago

Toarcian, Early Jurassic

Posidonia Shale, Germany

In the expanses of sea of what will one day become the inlands of southern Germany, we will follow the life of one of the most formidable marine apex predators to have ever lived: Temnodontosaurus trigonodon. We will be following Thiemo, a male Temnodontosaurus, starting with his uneasy birth into a shallow ocean teeming with Jurassic life, observe his progress to become a small predator, avoid competition and killers in the open seas, and finally rise into the most formidable creature of this ecosystem, as he achieves reproduction and seizes his rule up until his eventual death. In the way, Thiemo will witness the diversity of this ancient period, and see animals as diverse as ammonites, as well as many species of ancient fish, including other marine reptiles, as varied as plesiosaurs, crocodylomorphs and other ichthyosaurs.

Lets begin this 180 million year journey.
