EPISODE 15

Battle for a Current

As the water borders the air above it, fins leave the strange ocean for mere moments.

Thiemo dives back to the water. Long ago were the times when his ancestors could taste the comfort of a life outside of the water, but that is no longer the life of a Temnodontosaurus. Imposing its way through the water, Thiemo dominates the seas.

Thiemo took quite a long time to grow to this size. But even still it is not a large adult, as some individuals can grow larger, but he is not too shabby himself.

It might look hard to imagine his scale. But compared to the shoal of Saurostomus esocinus, pachycormids of around two meters long, a notion of size can be attained.

Thiemo might be a ruler. But his rule is not uncontested.

Adult Temnodontosaurus are viciously territorial animals. The presence of an intruding male is a threat.

Combat is imminent.

The battle begins.

Thiemo has the advantage as he bites the left front flipper of his rival.

He lets go off his grip quickly for his opponent can still bite him too.

Body slams are common when the snout can't find flesh to lacerate through. These and tail swipes produce damage in the thoracic region and the skull, providing different forms of pain than those produced by series of sharp teeth.

The fight ends shortly. Thiemo is not going to risk pushing this fight towards a grim and dangerous end. This encounter cost him minor injuries to a few bones and muscles, but the result could be much more severe. He must get more prepared to handle conflicts like this in the future, before he finds his fate in one of them.
