• ‎April 28, 1888 – Rizal arrived in the United States, landing in San Francisco, California, aboard the Belgic.

• ‎His entry was delayed for about a week due to strict quarantine regulations an experience that made him critical of some American immigration policies.

• ‎After being cleared, he traveled across major US cities by train, passing through Oakland, Reno, Chicago, Niagara Falls, Albany, and finally New York.

• ‎Rizal observed America’s rapid progress, efficiency, and modernity, noting that the country was young yet very advanced in infrastructure and governance.

• ‎However, he also noticed racial discrimination, particularly towards Chinese immigrants, which made him conclude that the U.S. had “great liberty, but not for all men.”

• ‎May 13, 1888 – Rizal departed from New York aboard the City of Rome bound for London.
