Borrowed Art
A tender caress,
Cobwebs on cobblestones like yesterday's treasure.
Strokes of untainted ashes,
Against hills burnished to its finest brilliance.
I take a shy peek up,
Droplets of heavenly nectar,
Drowsy and pale against the thinnings of the veiled sky,
Fall silently like tears of a celestial maiden.
Once, twice and then thrice
I hear a whisper,
Echoing down the valleys
Like prayers of longing,
From Selene to Endymion.
There's a stream beneath,
Sparkling and gleaming,
flowers blooming wild,
In the midst of twinkling fairies.
Berries dot the bushes,
Like freckles on one's chin.
Like brush strokes of Van Gogh,
On his most cherished canvas.
A borrowed art,
One that she herself bestowed,
A gift from the goddess herself.
What is art without her touch?
Like a gypsy without a tambourine.
Like a beloved without grace.
Like a poet without ink.
