The eruption is producing intense heat, glowing rivers of molten rock, and billowing plumes of volcanic gas. Officials have issued a warning urging people near the volcano to exercise caution due to the release of toxic gases and ongoing lava flows. While the eruption is being closely monitored, there is currently no immediate threat to the public. Source
March 23, 2025 - Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano just wrapped up its 14th eruption episode—this one came with lava fountains soaring up to 700 feet high. The show lasted 28 hours inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and drew crowds of gasping tourists and spring breakers sprinting to see it before it fizzled. The eruption stayed contained, posing no threat to homes—but the spectacle lit up the Big Island. Kilauea’s been erupting on-and-off since December, and locals know: when she blows, it’s worth dropping everything to watch. Source

March 9, 2025 - Guatemala’s Volcano of Fire erupts and forces evacuations - Guatemala’s Volcano of Fire is erupting, and authorities have evacuated nearly 300 families while warning that another 30,000 people in the area could be at risk. The eruption started overnight. There is no immediate report of casualties. The 12,300-foot (3,763-meter) high volcano is one of the most active in Central America. It last erupted in June 2023. Claudinne Ugalde, secretary of the disaster agency, said “some 30,000 people more or less are at risk in these three (jurisdictions) and we are trying to have them evacuate or self-evacuate,” she said. The biggest danger from the volcano are lahars, a mixture of ash, rock, mud and debris, that can bury entire towns. Source

February 21, 2025 - Catastrophic volcano could soon erupt on the Pacific Northwest and k-ll tens of thousands in just 30 minutes. Experts warn that it is only a matter of time before Mount Rainier, one of the most hazardous volcanoes in the U.S., erupts in the Pacific Northwest. This massive, active stratovolcano towers over nearly 90,000 residents in cities like Seattle, Tacoma, and Yakima in Washington, as well as Portland, Oregon. Although Mount Rainier has not had a major eruption in over 1,000 years, scientists closely monitor it due to its potential to erupt at any moment and the devastating impact such an event could have. February 14, 2025 - 3 U.S. VOLCANOES MAY ERUPT SOON - MASSIVE DISASTER LOOMS - Turns out, Kilauea (Hawaii), Great Sitkin (Alaska), and Mount Spurr (Alaska) are all showing signs of “heightened unrest”, which is geologist-speak for probably about to ruin someone’s day. Mount Spurr, just 80 miles from Anchorage, has seen its weekly earthquake count jump from 30 to 125—because apparently, a fivefold increase in seismic activity is just a casual Thursday. Scientists say there’s a 50-50 chance it erupts soon, which sounds less like a prediction and more like a Vegas bet with very bad odds. Meanwhile, Kilauea already erupted this week, shooting lava 300 feet into the air, and Great Sitkin is steaming like a pressure cooker someone forgot to turn off. Source: Daily Mail
February 12, 2025 - KILAUEA ERUPTS AGAIN, SPEWING LAVA 330 FEET INTO SKY - Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano is erupting once again, launching lava 330 feet high from its summit crater in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. The eruption began Tuesday morning, with lava flowing onto the Halemaʻumaʻu Crater floor. Officials warn of volcanic gas emissions and windblown volcanic glass impacting nearby areas. This marks Kilauea’s ninth eruption since December 23, with previous activity lasting from 13 hours to eight days. No homes are threatened, but crowds are gathering for a spectacular view. 9/11/2024: Philippines Residents Evacuate as Kanlaon Volcano Emits Harmful Gases and Eruption Warning Issued - Hundreds of people fled their homes in the Philippines on Wednesday after the Kanlaon volcano emitted harmful gases, prompting experts to warn of a potential eruption. Approximately 300 residents from villages within four kilometers (2.5 miles) of the volcano’s crater were evacuated on Tuesday as a precautionary measure. The evacuees have sought temporary shelter at schools and community centers away from the volcano, according to Canlaon City information officer Edna Lhou Masicampo. Residents near the volcano have reported a strong sulfur smell, with many being farmers. In response to the increased volcanic activity, classes were suspended, and some tourist attractions in the city of around 60,000 people were closed. On Tuesday, Kanlaon’s sulfur dioxide emissions nearly tripled to 9,985 tons, marking the highest level recorded since monitoring began, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The state volcanology agency raised the alert level for Kanlaon in June, indicating that more explosive eruptions could be imminent. The Philippines, located in the seismically active Pacific “Ring of Fire,” is home to more than half of the world’s volcanoes. Source
8/26/2024: Europe’s most dangerous volcano rumbles, and Italians weigh the risk - POZZUOLI, Italy – In the red zone of the awakening Phlegraean Fields, the most dangerous volcano in Europe, 2,000-year-old ruins are rising from the earth, thrust upward by hydrothermal force. The water line is receding at the docks as the ground rises. Thousands of earthquakes, including one that drove 1,500 people into temporary shelter, are sending shock waves of fear through coastal communities. Residents are now keeping emergency bags packed, preparing for larger quakes, or worse, an eruption some experts fear could prove devastating. Nearly 80,000 people blithely inhabit the sulfurous caldera, playing soccer in the streets and cooking rich ragus in apartments with majestic views of Capri and Ischia, the emerald isles across the Gulf of Naples. In total, an estimated 485,000 people live in the designated danger zone of a smoke-belching behemoth the ancient Romans thought was an entrance to Hell. The most pessimistic experts signal it may even be time to consider relocating, presenting residents with a stark choice: Should they stay – or should they go? The crisis is escalating a debate within Italy’s scientific community about the extent of the threat from the 8-mile-wide monster pockmarked with more than two dozen craters and believed to have caused the most violent eruption of prehistoric Europe. There is no indication of a sudden rise in magma that could signal an imminent eruption. But volcanic events can be highly unpredictable, and the new cycle of volcanic earthquakes – along with a measurable rise of the ground by 2 cm a month – are worrying. Source
