Season 56

The last couple of seasons have been very successful in terms of Hall of Fame voting, as we have elected 7 of a possible 10 candidates for Virtual Cooperstown. During that time, I have been using a combination of the previous season's voting totals and a new Wins Above Replacement formula that factors in both park and positional adjustments to figure out who the most deserving candidates are. Since it seems to be working, I am going to continue using that method. To that end, here are last season's voting results:

With Hasegawa, Sterns and Vizquel in that means that the top five who missed out are Virgil Tatis (2 votes short), Ivan Osoria (4 votes short), Harry Reynoso (9 votes short), Alex Mack (10 votes short) and Eswalin Valentin (13 votes short.) Since these five were the most popular candidates a year ago, I am going to start by evaluating their HOF cases using the following criteria: 100+ WAR is a Slam Dunk HOFer, 70-99 WAR is a Definite HOFer, 50-69 WAR deserves strong consideration and 49 or fewer WAR has a weak HOF case. Here's how they stack up:

Slam Dunk HOFer:

Definite HOFer: Virgil Tatis (79.73 Career WAR)

Worthy of Strong Consideration: Harry Reynoso (58.92 Career WAR), Ivan Osoria (55.01 Career WAR), Alex Mack (Estimated 51 Career WAR)

Weak HOF Case: Eswalin Valentin (Estimated 38 Career WAR)
