Mission Statement

The Student Cooperative Organization’s mission is to provide quality, affordable housing that is reliable, inclusive, and safe for all students and community members.

We offer a space that allows our members to grow and thrive both as individuals and together as members of a community.  

We achieve this goal by:

• Providing housing at affordable rates that are based on sustaining the co-op and its members as opposed to turning a profit. 

• Ensuring that people of any gender, race, religion, nationality, &/or identity are accepted and respected in our community.

• Performing agreed upon, individual household responsibilities so that everyone has a stake in maintaining a cooperative, quality place to call home.

• Sharing our space and resources with one another.  These spaces include common areas in the house as well as the garden plots and large garage.  The shared resources include some food, games, tools, workout equipment, and bikes, among many others.

• Connecting with community and student organizations in the area to assist groups who like us, exist to improve the community.  This also gives members an opportunity to meet other people in the community, access new ideas and foster new possibilities.

• Communicating and engaging with our fellow co-ops around the country,  who provide us with access to crucial training, new ideas, experienced insight, helpful resources and so much more.
