Background: Many of the classes that I take during my time in high school and college years require some sort of project or visual aid to demonstrate my mastery over a particular topic. During my freshmen year of college, I took a liberal arts class called Sex, Drugs & Rock n' Roll which explored how human evolution and expression are closely linked with the usage of Psychedelic Drugs through historical examples. At the end of each unit, I create a portfolio that utilizes my background in Art and Graphic Design to create covers that would encapsulate the theme of the unit.
Portfolio I:
Topic: Stone Age, Polytheism, & Psilocybin
Design Choice Explanation: For this cover, I choose a sample solid-panel design to showcase a Neolithic cave painting of Hands. I chose a cave painting specifically psilocybin's influence on early art expression was one of the main focuses of this unit. By turning the image black and white, I blended the image into my cover and invoked a sense of the past in my cover. The post of maroon adds contrast to the image while also involving the red berry and blood color paint that early people used for cave painting. While this cover was simple I felt that it did landscape format limited my ability to incorporate design elements and images so I decided to change my follow portfolio to being portrait instead.
Portfolio II:

Portfolio III:
