Seasmoke from Game of Thrones: Dragonfire
B
BARTIMOS: Pray forgive my bluntness, Your Grace, but talk of men is moot. Your cause owns a power that has not been seen in this world since the days of old Valyria. Dragons!
RHAENYRA: The Greens have dragons as well.
DAEMON: They have three adults, by my count. We have Syrax, Caraxes, and Meleys. Your sons have Vermax, Arrax, and Tyraxes. Baela has Moondancer.
RHAENYRA: Daemon, none of our dragons have been to war.
DAEMON: There are also unclaimed dragons. Seasmoke still resides on Driftmark. Vermithor and Silverwing dwell on the Dragonmont, still riderless. Then there are the three wild dragons, all of whom nest here.
RHAENYRA: And who is to ride them?
DAEMON: Dragonstone has 13 to their 4. I also have a score of eggs incubating in the Dragonmont.
- House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 10 "The Black Queen"
MYSARIA: Are they always like this?
RHAENYRA: Seasmoke, my late lord husband's dragon. He's grown restless of late. We cannot know why.
MYSARIA: Maybe he's lonely.
- House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3 "The Burning Mill"
JACE: There is Rhaena.
RHAENYRA: Who nearly lost her life in her last attempt. I would not risk it again.
- House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 "Regent"
RHAENYRA: And I see now to do that, I need more dragonriders, for Vermithor and Silverwing, and for Seasmoke, who I believe misses his bond.
STEFFON: But there are no more in you family, your grace. Your youngest sons are babes.
There is Princess Rhaena.
CORLYS: She has attempted it, alas. But the dragons here would not take her as a rider.
- House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 "Smallfolk"
LORENT: The dragon Seasmoke has been sighted flying over Spicetown.
RHAENYRA: Yes, he does that.
LORENT: He has a rider.
- House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 "Smallfolk"
ADDAM: This dragon came to me, not I to him.
- House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 7 "The Red Sowing"
JASPER: Rumor of the sighting of the dragon Seasmoke. With a rider.
...
LARYS: Who is this rider?
JASPER: That is less clear. it must surely be the lady Rhaena. She's wanted for a dragon all her life.
LARYS: Indeed, but she tried already. She was four-and-ten, the beast Seamsoke very nearly devoured her.
- House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 7 "The Red Sowing"
Seasmoke is a pale, silver-gray dragon. Still a young dragon, he is very nimble in the air.
“Dragons are very intelligent creatures,” said Clinton Liberty, who plays Addam. “Seasmoke can sense who the human is behind the facade of who the human’s trying to portray.”

Seasmoke, for example, is a bit more stealthy and militant to a degree, like a soldier.
Seasmoke's saddle was the third of the brown buck saddles we developed.
For Leanors saddle, we wanted to reference elements of his mothers saddle with the armoured scales. All the fabrics were muted grey blues and greens to match Corlys's pallet. The aim was to make Seasmokes saddle look battle ready, but have a balance of sophistication. So although its armoured, it is more of a dress armour , as armouring a dragon saddle is kind of like putting chainmail on a flame thrower. Saying that the armoured pommel and nose does benefit Leanor when he dives for an attack, as he is able to hug behind it using it as a kind of shield.
This saddle was heavily inspired by the Remora fish, which attaches itself to the bottom of sharks, of all the saddles Leanors needed to reference some kind of parasitic fish, being the son of the Seasnake. The straps around sea-smokes neck and curves and drops of the saddles silhouette reference a cuttlefish.
Another dragon makes an appearance at the end of the Greens' trailer, but it's a familiar face. Condal confirms this pale grey beast is Seasmoke, the dragon once rode by Ser Laenor Velaryon (John MacMillan), son of Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) and Rhaenyra's first husband, who was last spotted faking his death to live in the Free Cities with his lover.
Seasmoke is "now aged since the last time that we saw him in the Stepstones," the showrunner says. "So he's grown up a bit and matured."

Seasmoke was sort of new; even though he'd been in Season 1, he was very much developed for this season. He was the new dragon on the block.

Four of the dragons were modeled quite closely on Drogon, including Seasmoke, the pale gray-and-white dragon ridden by Corlys's son Laenor-though Laenor's dragon is smaller, with a slightly altered wingspan to give the creature a more youthful appearance.
- Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon: Inside the Creation of a Targaryen Dynasty
Written by George R.R. Martin in collaboration with Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson
Laenor had the blood of the dragon on both sides, and even a dragon of his own—the splendid grey-and-white dragon he called Seasmoke.
- The World of Ice and Fire "The Targaryen Kings"
Viserys had also been the last Targaryen to ride Balerion…though after the death of the Black Dread in 94 AC he never mounted another dragon, whereas the boy Laenor had yet to take his first flight upon his young dragon, a splendid grey-and-white beast he named Seasmoke.
- Fire and Blood "Heirs of the Dragon: A Question of Succession"
Moreover, six other dragons made their lairs in the smoky caverns of the Dragonmont above the castle. There was Silverwing, Good Queen Alysanne’s mount of old; Seasmoke, the pale grey beast that had been the pride and passion of Ser Laenor Velaryon; hoary old Vermithor, unridden since the death of King Jaehaerys.
- Fire and Blood "The Dying of the Dragons: The Blacks and the Greens"
Munkun’s True Telling tells us that sixteen men lost their lives during the Sowing. Three times that number were burned or maimed. Steffon Darklyn was burned to death whilst attempting to mount the dragon Seasmoke.
- Fire and Blood "The Dying of the Dragons: The Red Dragon and the Gold"
Yet Seasmoke, Vermithor, and Silverwing were accustomed to men and tolerant of their presence. Having once been ridden, they were more accepting of new riders.
- Fire and Blood "The Dying of the Dragons: The Red Dragon and the Gold"
And Seasmoke, who had once borne Laenor Velaryon, took onto his back a boy of ten-and-five known as Addam of Hull, whose origins remain a matter of dispute amongst historians to this day.
- Fire and Blood "The Dying of the Dragons: The Red Dragon and the Gold"
Having outlived all of his children and suffered the betrayal of his nephews and cousins, the Sea Snake seemed more than eager to accept these newfound grandsons. And when Addam of Hull mounted Ser Laenor’s dragon, Seasmoke, it seemed to prove the truth of his mother’s claims.
