Set up a meeting with a teacher or school administrator who you think might be interested in your composting project. If there is an environmental club on campus, make sure to reach out to them and see if they would be interested in participating in the project and the meeting.
In the meeting, outline your composting plan. Be prepared before you attend the meeting (come up with possible questions and answers), but if you are asked questions to which you do not know the answer, do not hesitate to tell them that you will look further into it and respond with a follow up email or message after the meeting.
Highlight the benefits of composting - your school can be a partner in helping to maintain a healthy planet. Point out that composting
Reduces Waste
Combats Climate Change
Prevents Soil Erosion
Improves Soil Quality

Promotes Plant Growth
Conserves Water
In partnership with your school administration, develop your plan.
Pick the way you want to compost
Make sure you understand how to do it
Find people to participate - students, family members, teachers, school administrators
Identify the space you want to dedicate to the program
Outline the necessary steps to implement the program
Set the timelines
Once approved, it’s time to implement your plan! Look at whether you want to (1) create a compost pit or pile at school if the school has the space and resources or (2) participate in the city collection program
