·      2 fitted regular size crib sheets and blankets for your child’s cot.

·      2 sets of extra seasonally appropriate clothing. Please place clothing in a large Ziploc bag, labeled with your child’s name. Please label the clothing as well.

·      We go on many outside adventures. DHS requires all children 6 months old and older to have Sunscreen LOTION only with SPF 30 or higher. Please make sure to label your child’s sunscreen! Spray sunscreen or sunscreen containing dyes are not permitted.

·      Six Family Photos (4x6 please)

·      3” 3-ring binder

Art:  Our art center encourages children’s creative juices. Art materials include, markers, crayons, glue, stickers, paint, collage items, paper, and scissors. Play dough is included to enhance the imagination of the children to create masterpieces in 3D. Most children enjoy sensory, art, and exploration activities. This sometimes means getting down and messy! Although we wear paint shirts, it doesn’t make the activities 100% mess proof. We do our best to keep the children’s clothing from getting messy, however, this is sometime unavoidable. Please keep this in mind as you dress your child for the day. Clothing that is comfortable, washable, and replaceable is recommended. Remember, the messier children get, the more fun they are having. And they are making memories that will outlast the clothing!

Math: Number Recognition, Counting, Number & Quantity Match, Sorting, and Patterns, are just a few math activities available for your child’s math interest.

Science: Hands-On Exploration. Rocks, seashells, pinecones for nature exploration. Animals, magnifying glasses, beakers, and other lab-like materials are available for our little scientists. During our Science lessons, we will examine the life cycles of different plants and animals and learn about the characteristics of living things. We will incorporate news items into our Science center as we find them.

Blocks: The block center allows children to use their creative imagination. Providing different types of blocks and other manipulatives, children can construct, explore cause and effect, and work on social skills like peer interaction and parallel play.

Dramatic Play: Our land of make believe is where children can dress up as a community helper, a princess, a chef…and so much more. With a variety of toys to enhance the center, the children can use their imaginations to engage in real life scenarios or just pretend in their own fashion. This center supports children’s one-on-one interactions as well as group play. These interactions give the opportunity for children to express their feelings and build communication skills.

Library: Our library is just that. A quiet space with comfortable, child-sized furniture for the children to curl up and read a book. We teach the children how to handle a book, the parts of a book, what an author does, and what the illustrator’s job is.

If your child is potty-trained, we will take them during scheduled potty times unless they request to go at other times. Diapers will be checked and changed at two-hour intervals. If a child should soil their diaper sooner, they will be changed sooner.

Changing Procedure

1. Cover the surface with disposable paper. Remove these items from containers and place on the diapering surface away from the child’s reach:

   • Wipes

   • Clean diaper

   • Dab of diapering cream on facial tissue

   • Plastic bag for soiled clothes

   • Put on gloves

2. Place the child on the diapering surface. Always keep a hand on the child.

3. Remove bottom clothing including shoes and socks if it cannot be kept from contacting soiled skin or surfaces.

4. Unfasten diaper but keep soiled diaper under child’s bottom

5. Lift the child’s legs and clean skin from front to back. Use a fresh wipe each time. 

6. Put soiled wipes in the soiled diaper, or directly into a hands-free plastic-lined can. Dispose of the soiled diaper in the hands-free can. 

7. If the paper is soiled, use the corner to fold the clean side of paper back under the child’s clean bottom.

8. Remove gloves and dispose in a hands-free can.

9. Use a separate fresh wipe on the adult’s and child’s hands. Dispose in hands-free can.

10. Put the clean diaper under the child’s bottom. If using a diaper cream, apply it with a facial/toilet tissue or glove, then discard in a hands-free can.

11. Fasten the diaper and dress the child.

12. Wash the child’s hands at the sink.

13. Return the child to a supervised area.

14. Dispose of the changing table paper, clean the diapering surfaces with detergent, water and paper towels, and rinse the surface with water. Wet the diapering surface with disinfectant solution, and leave the solution on for the required contact time. 

15. Dry the diapering surface with a dry, clean paper towel before next change and wash hands.
