Meet Our Team
Director of The Children's Garden
For the past 30 years I have served several schools throughout the southeastern and central Pennsylvania region as either a teacher or school director. In addition to working in school settings, I enjoy performing within the entertainment industry as a music producer, singer/songwriter, and musician. I love collecting model trains. I am a member of the Native American/Indigenous Community and function in a leadership role, while advocating for human rights.
I enjoy working with young learners, teachers, and developing partnerships with families to ensure high-quality programming within schools is being achieved.
Lead Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church
Pastor Sarah has been the Lead Pastor of St. John's since June of 2020 after serving as the Associate since 2008. She received her Bachelors in Religion and History from Luther College in Decorah, IA and her MDiv from Gettysburg Seminary (now United Lutheran Seminary) in 2005. She and her husband Greg call Dillsburg home, where they live with their children Nicholas and Hannah. Pastor Sarah oversees all the ministries of St. John's Lutheran Church which includes The Children's Garden.
Associate Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church
Pastor Elizabeth is a graduate of United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, PA. Prior to her call to ministry she grew up in Harrisburg, PA and has a B.A in Telecommunications from The Pennsylvania State University. After college she worked at CBS21 News and felt a call to dive deeper into her faith and fell in love with scripture, pastoral care, and preaching. Elizabeth and her husband, Rev. Jay Eckman, love to hang out with their toddler, Everett (who attends the childrens garden), chase the cats, cook, work with youth and young adults, and hang out with family and friends. Elizabeth’s loves to praise God through song, fellowship and quality time with God’s people. She enjoys teaching chapel once a week to the children of The Children's Garden.
Office Administrator of The Children's Garden
I have been blessed by God to be here at The Children's Garden for 20 years. I moved from Mississippi with no idea of what PA living would be like. I called the Director of The Children's Garden and asked for an interview...that was Friday, January 5, 2007. I came to work on Monday, January 7, 2007. I love my profession because God gives us the littles to keep us humble, in love, laughing/crying, but always seeking His guidance in making a difference in our children's lives. I'm honored to help your children and families during your time here.
The Children’s Garden was started by St. John’s in 1993. We are the largest single-site daycare in Cumberland County and are home to around 200 students each year. We are home to an amazing full day Kindergarten program and care for children from age 6 weeks on up. The school is a ministry of the church and we partner together for service opportunities as well as many activities through the year. Our Little Food Pantry, Little Library, summer garden and our Vacation Bible School are just a few highlights of our ministry together with the children at TCG. We walk together in faith and help the families that are part of our school to grow, share and serve God.
