October in our project was the month of TOLERANCE and self-introduction. Both students and teachers took part in various activities in order to know one another better, develop their skills and also to cultivate one of the most significant values in our project and in our life - Tolerance. Working on willingness to accept behaviour and beliefs that are different from our own, although you might not agree with or approve of, seems to be one of the most significant part of our coexistence.
SELF-INTRODUCTION
At the very beginning of our project, students had the opportunity to know one another better thanks to Padlet. They introduced themselves and gave some information related to their hobbies, interests, the ways of spending their free time. It appears to be a great tool for developing writing skills, allowing for asunchronous collaboration, helping with social interaction, supporting teaching and learning.
LOGO COMPETITION
Both students and teachers created their own logos of the project in their own ways and styles, using many different ICT tools available online or in traditional ways. All partners voted for the best logo which became the logo of our project. Students had the opportunity to develop their ICT skills thanks to such sites as, for instance, Canva. Learning of healthy competition is also a desired skill.
TOLERANCE POSTERS AND WORKING IN A TEAM
Students prepared posters promoting tolerance. They worked in groups just to strenghten their cooperative skills. They had to work out their own vision of the poster, prepare necessary materials, concentrate on the dissussed value and find the way of presenting their ideas. Teamwork improves productivity and increases innovation (e.g., brainstorming). Students seem to be more motivated toward achieving their goals and focused on the outcome. While working together as a team, students are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
The results of students' work were pretty amazing:
Teachers also prepared their tolerance posters in order to set a good example for their students to follow:
WORD CLOUDS - BUILDING UP VOCABULARY & DIVING INTO PERSONALITY
Thanks to word clouds we could expand and revise vocabulary connected mainly with personality, and also use another ICT tool strenghtening our technological skills. It helped us to know more about one another and about ourselves as well. It was a form of learning while having fun. The colourful results of our creativity are really impressive!
Students and teachers from all schools working on the project created a collaborative cloud with adjectives describing personality. Thanks to such a task, we had an opportunity to revise and consolidate the chosen vocabulary. Both students and teachers could discover something more about themselves. Knowing out personality traits can help us understand ourselves better and those around us. It can also lead to self-improvement, self-development, understanding and open-mindedness.
