Acting II is designed to provide further training specifically in character development.  Building on the skills acquired in Acting I, focus is on more complex acting exercises while activating the heightened language of advanced texts in pursuit of the character’s wants. The class concludes with a showcase performance that is open to the public, providing an opportunity for you to perform in front of a live audience.  Play attendance is required.

Prerequisite: THE212 Acting I (with a grade of C or better) and consent of the instructor.

Final Public Showcase Presentation:

All Acting II students will publicly present their work during the finals week. The showcase piece may be a full play, a cutting from a full play, or a compilation of scenes.  To meet the course outcomes, the work must be from plays that require heightened language and style.  This could include plays written by Chekhov, Miller, Moliere, Shakespeare, Wilde, Williams, etc., or even musical theatre. The performance is open to the public and is required of all students enrolled in this course.
