Course Description: This course involves the advanced serious study of the craft of acting—continuing the development of acting skills introduced in THE 212. This course introduces the student to acting styles while helping the student develop a believable character through play analysis and scene study.
This course is an experience-based exploration of the life and work of William Shakespeare from historical, textual, critical, and most importantly performance perspectives. Therefore, if you are enrolled in this class, it is required that you participate in our travel to London. Travel is over spring break.
In addition to lecture/discussion/performance-based work at Harper, class experiences will include site visits, workshops, guest lectures and live performances at the Globe Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as other sites with Shakespearean connections, in London.
Students will have an unforgettable experience that will develop theatre skills, advance knowledge of Shakespeare and his times, and deepen their appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare’s plays through active participation and performance.
