DO I HAVE TO BE IN THEATRE OR CHORUS TO BE INVOLVED???
*Nope! This is an after school activity and is not connected to the academic classes. Enrollment in theatre or chorus is not required, nor does it give an advantage in casting.
WHEN ARE REHEARSALS???
*Afterschool on late bus days (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) during both blocks. Most cast members will not need to stay after school for every rehearsal. Students with lead roles may need to stay after more often than students in the ensemble. If you know of any conflicts ahead of time, please list them on the audition form.
*Crew members will need to stay after school varying amounts depending on their role. Stage managers must stay for almost every rehearsal, whereas Run Crew members won't need to stay until January. Please check the crew description list for more information about each role.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION???
*Come check out the information posted on the call board between SD-1 and SD-2
*Turn in a SIGNED Audition form to Ms. Young
*Prepare a short song and a short monologue from the show
*Sign up for an audition timeslot outside SD-2 (Ms. Young’s room)
*HIGHLY ENCOURAGED: Attend the Audition Workshop on Monday, September 23 to learn the dance ahead of time.
DO I HAVE TO AUDITION IF I JUST WANT TO BE ON CREW???
*No, crew members do not have to audition. But Crew spots are limited to students enrolled in the Tech Theatre class. If you are in Ms. Young's Tech Theatre class and want to be involved backstage during the performances, just fill out the CREW application form instead of the audition form.
STAGE MANAGER positions are open to anyone at Franklin, both 7th and 8th graders! If you are interested in Stage Managing, check out the crew descriptions to see if it is the right fit for you.
HOW ARE THE AUDITIONS GOING TO WORK???
*You will arrive in time for your audition timeslot
*You will sing your song and say your monologue
*You will learn a short dance and perform it with other auditionees
*You will have fun and be proud of the fact that you auditioned!
ANY TIPS ON AUDITIONING???
*Practice practice practice!
*Turn in your signed audition form early!
*Arrive on time and prepared.
*Have a positive attitude and just do your best!
WHAT IF I DON’T MAKE IT???
*We wish we had enough spots for everyone in the play, but sadly we don’t! If you do not get cast, keep practicing and improving. Just to get out and audition is experience, and we hope you not only learn something, but have fun doing it!
DOES IT COST ANYTHING???
*We don’t charge to be a part of the musical, however we will ask cast members to bring in some costume pieces from home (including shoes, hair supplies, make-up, etc) and crew members will need to have painting clothes and/ or black clothes for backstage. Students will be able to purchase a t-shirt and show DVD, if desired.
CAN PARENTS BE INVOLVED???
*Yes, please! We need lots of parent help to make this show a success. On the audition form, please select what area of the show you would be interested in assisting. If you have another skill set that we have not mentioned, email Ms. Young!
