Here at Franklin, we have two Theatre Teachers. Ms. Young teaches the Advanced Theatre and Technical Theatre classes. Ms. Stanziani teaches the Theatre Appreciation classes both here and at Stone MS. We work together as one department to support the students both in the classroom and in the spectacular productions we do after school!

Do I have to take Theatre to audition for the Play?
No, you do not! The Musical and Play are part of the After School Program, and therefore are open to all students at Franklin! All students are welcome to audition, and while the cast sizes are limited, any member of the school can be cast in any role if they are the best one for the part!
Do I have to audition for the Play if I take Theatre?
No, you do not! The after school program and the class curriculum are entirely separate. There is no extracurricular requirement for the Theatre classes.
Do we go on any field trips?
Yes, we do! The Theatre Arts Appreciation class goes on a field trip in the DC area to see a play each semester. In the past, we have gone to such theatres as the Kennedy Center, Synetic Theatre, George Mason University, etc. The tickets for these field trips are very affordable, and everyone in the class can go!
Students in the Advanced Theatre classes have the opportunity to attend our annual field trip to NYC each Spring! On this overnight trip we see 2 Broadway shows, have a workshop with a Broadway performer, and do lots of sightseeing and shopping. It is a really fantastic trip! The trip is optional, and does have a larger field trip fee. More details are given at the beginning of the school year when the trip is finalized.
