The Villages Pops Chorus was founded in late 2013, and began rehearsals in January 2014. We have 2 primary objectives:
1) to give Villages residents an opportunity to sing popular music arranged in choral settings; and
2) to raise funds through The Village Pops Chorus Foundation for charitable organizations by holding concerts.
We are also committed to having fun while presenting concerts of a high quality. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and all of our members are volunteers, including the director and accompanist. We do hire additional musicians to play with us at our concerts, and have a 12-piece band accompanying us on most songs. As a result of the success of our concerts, including the "Give a Hoot" series of Hootenanies by The Pops Chorus Folksingers, we have been able to contribute nearly $300,000 to deserving organizations. Our chorus has between 125 and 145 singers at each concert, and over 200 different people have sung in our concerts so far.
