Stopping here at a steep tall bridge,  

Gazing at my reflection 

In the strong water currents... 

Melancholy follows the river waves to a place far away...

Regions of heart-tearing pain for the past places I'd lived. 

Been away some years, but the nostalgia for home lingers

Floating with the wind, my soul forgets the love of long-ago 

Years of youth's like autumn leaves falling at the season's end

Each night, I dream of a time when my heart's full of youthful innocence

You come to me one evening when the sunshine has faded.

The sunshine still lingers on the bridge in the country's border region 

In the distance, I hear a sweet, gentle melody playing

Somewhere a vision of beauty appears in return for a  lost love

By the country's border bridge

I quietly listen to the flow of life slowly passing by

The river water keeps flowing

The mountain clouds floating

Nature's silent without a word...

Alas!  A past dream

To wander in the world

To live in the heart of the beauties of Tô Châu

Or to die by the Danube river

On those nights full of stars

But the road's too far away

I'm still absorbed in the wandering life

Why does my life still has border

Why does my heart still dwells in this place

O the stream of silken hair

O the eyes deep like the sea to drown my soul

The wandering life full of nostalgic longings

The wish for love commitment of yesteryear

is just a passing dream!!!
