Updated dress code policy
gives Adamsonians
greater freedom of self-expression

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Office for Student Life (OSL) introduced updates to the university’s dress code policy, granting students greater freedom of self-expression while maintaining proper decorum on campus.

Released under OSL Memorandum No. 3, Series of 2026, the updated guidelines now allow multiple piercings for all students regardless of sex and expand the list of permitted hair colors to 45 options. The revision aims to foster a more inclusive campus environment where students can better express their identities.

Despite the added flexibility, certain rules remain in place. Visible tattoos must still be coordinated with the OSL, while cross-dressing, wearing slippers, and facial piercings remain prohibited. The updated policy will take effect once officially posted on the university’s platforms.

Casual attire is permitted on regular school days, during online classes, and on designated occasions such as Adamson Shirt Day every Friday. However, uniforms are still required for laboratory classes, Physical Education, and other specified courses. The advisory also reminds students to avoid inappropriate clothing, including heavily ripped jeans, pajamas, slippers, and facial piercings.

University officials emphasized that while students are encouraged to express themselves through their appearance, they are still expected to dress appropriately and uphold respect within the academic community.
