I live in the Pacific Northwest Region of the Unites States. The climate is very similar to Britannia and looking at the common methods used to produce salt, this was the most accessbile to me for beginning experimentation durring the pandemic. This experimentation is ongoing and some of my limitations have been overcome. I will detail them out chronologically with the experiments but below is a good sense of where I began.
My Limitations
1) I live in an apartment condominium. I am not allowed to have fire of any kind on my deck including a bbq grill per the agreement with my association.
2) I am not a potter and did not have access to any of the specialized tools and equipment to make my own pottery
3) It was the pandemic and my ability to go places was limited, but I did have a lot of free time
My Resources
1) Access to a beach house with limited commercial use in a protected bay with frequent public water reports
a) this bay houses a wildlife preserve
b) this bay has an unusually high number of bivalves that regualry clean the local water source
c) I knew this was a good water source as it is also used by a commercial salt works
2) A small local market that imported items from mexico including unglazed terra cotta rough pottery cups very similar in composition to finds at multiple briquetage sites
3) A sense of curiousity and a lot of time
4) The itnenet and a few sourcebooks including salt a world history and the red hills of essex
