Chrismonte has had a very interesting history. It all started in early November 2023, when Simon and Benjamin D, two brothers living in Nancy, France, joked about one of them ruling their shared room. This joke led to the idea of creating their own state, with a president who would rule the room. The first election was a random draw, which picked Benjamin as first president. Over the next week, ideas for the new state were shared and discussed. Finally, on Saturday, November the 11th, 2023, Simon came up with a declaration of independence and a founding constitution. 

But the founding of Chrismonte was not easy. The two brothers argued on the Constitution for a while, particular sections posing problems: the choice of the national flower, the removal of the president and the emergency powers. 

Finally, an agreement was reached. Benjamin would co-found Chrismonte with its original constitution, as long as he could create his own micronation as well. Thus, on Sunday, November the 12th, 2023, at 5pm, the Republic of Chrismonte was founded and declared independent.
