What is Acrobatic Gymnastics?

Acrobatic Gymnastics is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform figures consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling set to music.

How can I try this at home?

Acrobatic Gymnastics can easily be practised at home. Mums and dads and brothers and sisters, don't be intimidated! You can easily join in on the action. Class One up to Class Four have had an Acrobatic Gymnastics unit in term one of this school year. They can teach you the tricks of the trade.

All you need is a soft surface and enough space.

Always try to remember the safety rules. (See below)

Safety rules!

Although Acrobatic Gymnastics is not dangerous, there are some safety rules you should follow:

  1. Communication. Tell each other what you are going to do.

  2. Safely step on/off each other. The best way to execute is without shoes.

  3. Never stand in the middle of someone's back!

  4. Do not jump on or off your partner.

  5. Observe the pictures/examples carefully.
