Community Activism

Community Outreach

Our community outreach teams go out into the local community spreading awareness and presenting solutions as it relates to our mission to combat infant and maternal mortality, suicide, and opioid abuse.

BreastFriends Social

Once a month we organize a social outing for local breastfeeding moms and nursing advocates to meet and have a great time. There is no better way to normalize breastfeeding than to witness a group of mothers confidently doing just that. Plus this allows mothers who are nursing to enjoy a social gathering without the added pressure of keeping up pace or feeling like a burden during activities. Nursing moms can let their hair down, relax, enjoy themselves, while being supported by other women like them.

Community Meet & Greet

Once per month we host a meet & greet to bring mamas, doulas, and other birth advocates in the local community together in order to foster a strong support system for birthing mothers, address questions, and present solutions as it relates to the mission of our organization.

The Square Table

The Square Table is a 4 person panel to address important issues/proposed laws affecting our community while presenting/discussing solutions as it relates to the mission of our organization. At the end of each panel discussion a Q& A is held for the local community to ask questions.

March of Flowers

March of Flowers is our Annual Demonstration to Commemorate all of the mothers we have lost to systemic racism and medical neglect; And to Celebrate all of the Mamas and Babies that will be saved as we bring awareness and provide practical solutions to preserve black lives.

During this March, participants will wear white and carry flowers made/sold by our volunteers. These flowers represent the life of a mother and the life of a child with the double purpose of helping to raise funds for our organization and raise awareness as garden ornaments across the globe.

Members Only Groups

Birth Sisters Circle

Our local members meet to discuss how they can better serve and support one another, creating safe space for venting and uncomfortable questions. This group of women work to overcome obstacles and social programming that would keep them from being present and showing up for one another during the rites of passages women in this country seem to endure in solitude.

The mission of this group is to recreate a culture where women are supported and show up for one another with an unmatched sense of dedication and loyalty demonstrating in deed and in truth their love for one another and concern for the preservation of black lives.

Protectors of the Womb

This group is where our supportive male counterparts show up and show out when it comes to demonstrating that black men care about the black women in their community. These men come together to discuss how they can best support the birthing mothers in their community in regard to preserving black life, standing up for the rights of birthing mothers, making sure new infants and their siblings are being carefully looked after by caring persons, and ensuring safety at times they are most vulnerable.

This group also educates men on any issues, questions, or concerns they may have in regards to birth and their role during the process of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery.

Community Liaisons

Community Liaisons are contact persons for our organization that stand as a point of reference and contact within the communities that we are servicing. They are present at every meeting and social outing in the local community, providing resources, organizing, and ensuring community issues/questions are being addressed.
