Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky who could go through college without working. However, I was fortunate enough to find a home in my first job. I started at Raising Canes as a crew member in March of 2021 and now in 2024, I am a manager.
I oversee our communication boards and a program we call "Canes Love". As director of these areas, I ensured that the restaurant board in our lobby is kept up to date with pictures and themes along with ensuring that our communications board in the office updated with information necessary for crew. Furthermore, under our Canes Love program, I help plan parties, write thank you notes to crew, and helped organize programs to help recognize, respect, and reward our hard-working employees.
I have a lot of responsibilities every shift! I ensure we are serving safe, delicious food by monitoring crew in the kitchen, coaching them when necessary, and performing food safety walks. I handle the financial responsibilities such as depositing money at the end of the shift, counting tills with crew members, and updating out financial software to reflect the sales made that day. I help provide great customer service and help mitigate any frustrations a customer may have. I work to build-up our crew members to work more efficiently to reduce the amount of time it takes us to prepare an order, and I correct them when they are not following protocols. When we run into technical difficulties, I do my best to troubleshoot the problem, and when it is above my skill level, I contact our IT services. At the end of my shift, I prepare an end of shift summary making sure to communicate with my bosses how the shift went and explaining any difficulties. However, my favorite part is fostering a sense of community and fun on the shifts I work!
