IMPORTANT MEETING FOR REGISTRANTS - FEBRUARY 5TH - REGISTRANTS RECEIVED INVITES
A lot of the planning on this ride started with a request to go to California and specifically, the Pacific Coast Highway. Well, there's a lot of great riding between here and there. If you look at the list of sites below, you'll notice we're hitting California pretty hard, too. 26 of the locations are in California.
Approximate Ride distance - 8600 Miles from start to finish
Start is in Lubbock, TX
(does not include getting to the start or riding home from the finish)
Approximate Saddle Time - 165 Hours
Miles Per Day
Eleven under 400
Eleven between 400 and 500
Approximate Saddle Hours Per Day - 7 (+/- 2)
Probably 20 days or more not counting getting to start (allocate 2 days or more) and getting home (allocate 2 days or more). If your ride time to Lubbock, TX is 2 days or less and your ride home from Ozark, AR is 2 days or less.
This ride will feature thousands of curves, deep ravines, incredible mountain passes, and up to TWELVE National Parks. It's foundation is many of the great motorcycle roads like Kern Canyon, PCH, La Honda, Coronado Trail, UT-12, Kingsbury Grade, Avenue of the Giants, and Million Dollar Highway to name a few. It enjoys several national parks including The Grand Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Lassen Volcanic, Crater Lake, Glacier, Mesa Verde and Yellowstone.
All up for discussion, but...proposed start date in Lubbock, TX is September 3rd, 2025. Labor Day is on the 1st, meaning most schools are back in session and the majority of the road warriors on vacation have gone home. It also means the some National Parks usually have turned off timed entry. (not all, though) It's still early enough to increase the odds of no snow and to give possible reasonable temperatures, though September is still part of summer.
There's lots of food for thought. I'll put an "Interested" survey up as a sort of pre-registration to get names to invite to the discussion meeting.
