KAS

The Director of IT at Kaohsiung American School published his own tech blog. He would send the articles out by Mailchimp every week to both the KAS staff, and other subscribers. I was fortunate to be able to contribute to his blog by writing some articles for him.

Browser Extensions

I created a Chrome Extension that creates a new Google Document in one click. This blossomed into many different extensions. At one point, I had 250,000 users - then Google rejected them. They are back now but without the 250,000 users.

One Click Extensions

A blog post about the process

the first round of my extensions - when they were taken down

I started making browser extensions when I found out that Google Docs has a shortened URL. When I heard this in 2015 I thought it would really help elementary students who are new to using a computer to just be able to click a button to open a new Doc. This was also after seeing students get lost in Google Drive and the Google Docs page.

I put the two ideas together and made several extensions that totaled over 250,000 downloads.

Unfortunately, Google deemed them to be in violation of their TOS (depite publishing them) and took down my whole account on the Chrome Store.

Tech Tools List

I actually have two "lists" of tech tools. The more powerful one is a blog called My Heart Tweets. Long story short, I wanted a searchable database of the interesting things I find on Twitter. Connecting my Twitter account to IFTTT was the best way I could find to do it.

The second is called Tech Tools - it is a simple spreadsheet I am using to show the tools. This is growning into the place where I keep the things I find from the internet.

Spreadsheets

During the pandemic when we were online, I needed a way to keep track of student work. I started making spreadsheets and found a course by Ben Collins and I
