Course Description:
Studio Art is a mid-level art class. 2D or 3D Art is a prerequisite for this class, as this class is more advanced and builds upon what students learned during 2D/3D Art. This class can serve as a preparation class for EEP Art.
Course Objectives
To provide students with an intermediary experience moving beyond the basics to explore more advanced techniques, ideas, and opportunities in art. Students will also engage in learning about established artists, both past and present. Students must be self-directed and capable of working independently.
Units of Study:
1. Introduction to Studio Art + developing an artistic ‘body-of-work’
2. Exploring the artistic work + lives of artists / continuing to develop an individual artistic body-of-work

1. I can choose from a range of materials and methods of art history and contemporary practices to plan works of art and design.
2. I can experiment, plan and make multiple works of art and design that explore a personally meaningful idea.
3. I can reflect on, revise and refine a work of art.
4. I can evaluate, select, and apply methods to display an artwork in a specific place.
5. I can make, explain and justify connections between artists or artworks and social, cultural and political history.
6. I can recognize and describe personal aesthetic and empathetic responses to the natural world and constructed environments.
7. I can evaluate the effectiveness of an image or images to influence ideas, feelings and behaviors of specific audiences.
8. I can utilize inquiry methods of observation, research and experimentation to explore unfamiliar subjects through art-making.
9. I can describe how knowledge of culture, traditions, and history may influence personal responses to art.
