Course Description:

This course is an introduction to photography and digital photographic processes. Students will learn skills to create, compose, and present photographic digital images with their handheld devices and a digital camera. Students will have the opportunity to utilize the school and surrounding area to create their photographs. They will utilize digital editing software to edit their images and apply graphic design principles. Students will apply these preliminary skills to more conceptual and creative projects, based on project prompts. Students will also research diverse photographers and respond to works to deepen context and understanding of their own artwork. Video editing will be introduced in the second half of the semester. Through class discussion, group critiques, and writing, students will reflect and assess their own artwork and the work of peers.
