SCHOOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
The TWSP is an industry-driven program. TESDA collaborates with companies and sectors facing a shortage of qualified workers (e.g., construction, IT-BPM, tourism, manufacturing) and funds training slots to fill that gap. This makes TWSP graduates highly employable.
This program is ideal for:
High school or college graduates seeking immediate employment.
Displaced workers looking to learn a new, in-demand skill.
Current employees who need upskilling or certification for career advancement.
Returning OFWs transitioning to a new local career.
Enrolling in TWSP provides comprehensive support:
Free Tuition and Training Fees: The entire cost of your chosen course is shouldered by the scholarship.
Free Competency Assessment: The fee for the final skills evaluation and certification is covered.
Possible Allowance: Some TWSP implementations include a daily or monthly allowance for transportation or meals (amount is subject to change based on funding).
National Certificate (NC): Upon passing the assessment, you receive an official NC, a valuable credential for your resume.
STEP takes a more community-based approach. Its primary goal is to provide skills training that empowers individuals to become self-employed or start their own micro-businesses. It often targets specific groups within communities.
This program is ideal for:
Aspiring entrepreneurs who want to start a home-based business.
Barangay-based beneficiaries identified by local government units (LGUs).
Individuals interested in short-term, livelihood-oriented skills like baking, food processing, or beauty services.
Members of marginalized groups, including Persons with Disability (PWDs) and senior citizens.
STEP benefits are tailored for entrepreneurship:
Free Tuition and Training Fees: Like TWSP, all instruction costs are covered.
Free Competency Assessment: The certification fee is free.
Free Entrepreneurship Training: Scholars receive basic business management training to help them start and sustain their ventures.
Starter Toolkits: This is a hallmark of STEP. Graduates receive a set of essential tools specific to their trade (e.g., baking tools for Bread and Pastry, massage kit for Hilot) to help them start working immediately.
Training Support Fund: A small allowance may be provided for personal expenses during the training duration.
