1ST  Virtual Regatta in Malaysia 

After a successful trial of virtual sailing regatta in May 2020, and succeeding with 1st series on June 2020;  UMT Sailing Centre and Terengganu Windsurfing Sailing Association in collaboration with Terengganu State Sport Council back to organise the 2nd Series of virtual sailing league in Malaysia starting from 17th July till 19th July 2020. This regatta is a part of the seven (7) series of monthly e-sailing league that commenced  on June to December 2020.

Aimed at everyone from expert sailors to students and sports gamers, the UMT-Terengganu e-Sailing League 2020 is to motivate, engage and inspire the next generation of sailors during the hard time of Covid-19. The goal is to bring the excitement in sailing that comes with tactical and race spirit to the smart phone or PC of sailors when they are safely stay at home.

The june series accomplished with 170 participants from 16 sailing clubs and institutions have registered and joined this free of charge event. For the new participant with no basic knowledge in sailing, they are encouraging to undergo a quick familiarisation through the in-game Sailing School which provides a clear explanation of the sport and effective learning tool for better understanding the strategies, tactics and terminology of sailing.

Sailing demands constant inputs and an acquired skill set to manage the relationship between the boat and the forces of nature. These unique qualities are all captured accurately in this e-sailing and enable every one without access to sailing equipment. Governed by the World Sailing Virtual Rules of Sailing, the UMT-Terengganu e-Sailing League 2020 closely matches the real-world rules and formats that govern the sport.
