We've seen how you can type into a text box, but how do you get a text box to come up on a blank page? Put your cursor on the page and click the Insert command over on the upper right side:
Once you click Insert, you can choose Text box, and an empty text box will pop up on your page that you can type in. Or, you can take some text from something you've already written and copy and paste the text into the text box.
You'll notice on the right hand side of the page there are various formatting options that allow you to mix text and images, or multiple images across a page.
Each New Google Sites page is composed of a header followed by a series of rectangles, or segments, (“chunks”) of content. A variety of content types may be added using several techniques. The segments and their contents may be moved, rearranged on the page, as needed. To move a box, move your cursor to the middle of the top line in a box. Your cursor should change to 4 arrows, and you might see a symbol like this:
If you click on that symbol, you can drag the box to whatever position you want. There are lots of options on how to place the box, so take it slow until you're in the right position then lift your finger off the mouse or mousepad to place the box.
When you're typing in a text box, a menu bar pops up with a lot of standard text editing commands. Choose Normal Text or Header, Font, Font Size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Color, etc. If you press the three dots on the end, even more come up.
If you put your cursor on a blank part of your page and double click, you'll get a fancy control wheel, called the Quick Circle Method:
Once the control wheel comes up you can click the Tt symbol in the middle and a text box will appear; This is a shortcut method of generating text boxes, faster than going over to the side and clicking Insert.
There are other symbols on the control wheel. Starting from the top and going clockwise, the commands are:
Images
Upload
From Drive
Embed
We'll see what these commands do in the next few chapters. But before we leave this chapter, remember that when you insert a text or image block, you can then put your cursor over the edge of the box and when the 4 arrows symbol appears you can click and drag to rearrange these blocks on your page.
Go ahead and fill in the information on some of the pages: The Page Titles can be something more relevant than Week 1 or Week 2 and you can fill in some information regarding homework or even write a little introduction about what you plan to do that week.
