In the page on Background Photo, we saw how you can upload picture files from your computer or select an image from your Google Drive or search for one on the internet and put it into the header. The procedure for putting pictures on the page below the header is pretty much the same. You can go to the top right of the page and click Insert Images, and it will give you the choice to Upload (from your computer) or Select (from the internet). Similarly, if you double click when your cursor is on the page, it will bring up the control wheel and you can Select pictures from the internet at the 12 o'clock position, or you can Upload pictures from your drive at the 3 o'clock position.
Another way to add pictures in to a web site is to copy and paste them. The easiest way to do this is to use Google Image Search to find an image. Do a normal Google search and on the results page click Images at the top. This will give you an infinite number of pictures related to your search term. Click on the one you want and then right click to Copy Image (on Mac, if you aren't using a mouse, hold down the control key and click the image; a menu will come up and you can choose Copy Image). Then go to your web site and paste, using Ctrl-V for PC or Command-V for Mac.
You can sometimes right click on a picture on a web page and copy it that way. If that doesn't work, in Windows you can use the Snipping Tool to take a partial screenshot of any web page you're looking at, then copy that picture using Ctrl-C and paste it using Ctrl-V into your web page. In Mac, you use Shift+Command+ 4 to take a screen shot which is usually saved to your desktop, and then you can open it and cut and paste using Command-C and Command-V. Be careful about copyright infringement; you can get away with stealing a few copyrighted pictures, but it's best if you acknowledge the source by hyperlinking to it, as we'll learn in the next chapter.
Note that copying and pasting may not always work using Mac's Safari browser, but it does work using Google Chrome. Since Google makes both Google Sites and Google Chrome, the Chrome browser is preferred for editing your Google Site.
