In this step, someone will email you an invitation to open a BOLLI Course Template. The Course Template is a pre-made web site that has a lot of things already set up; you will just need to customize it for your course. We ask that you follow the instructions on this page very carefully. If you don't, you can ruin a good thing for others and bring shame to your good name.
The email that you get might look something like this. Click the blue open button:
You'll open the BOLLI Course Syllabus Template. You need to make a copy of this and only work on the copy. The reason for this is that someone else is the owner of the site that was sent to you and they could change or delete it. If you modify this template for your own course, someone else could erase all your hard work. So you need to duplicate the site that was sent to you and just work on the duplicate copy. Here's how you do it. Find the three vertical dots and click on them. A drop down menu will appear with the command "Duplicate Site". Click that:
The following window will pop up. Change the file name to the (short) name of your course. If you click the box that says Share with the Same Editors, those editors will be able to see your site as you progress and may be able to assist you should you have a question or issue. Then click Duplicate in the bottom right. Now you have your own course web site template.
You should get an email from Google Sites in a few minutes saying your copy is ready. You can click the link in that email to go to your new site, or you can type sites.google.com into your browser's address bar to find all the Google sites that you have editorial control over. Remember to only work on the one with your course name, not the one that was originally sent to you.
