This course teaches you the fundamentals of Computer Science and JavaScript programming, using the Code.org App Lab platform. Learning about programming standards, from U.S. Copyright Law to programming ethics in technology. This course is oriented towards providing a safe and beginner-friendly curriculum for students with little or no experience of computer programming. Through an app that we build during class, students will be able to learn the fundamentals of computer science and the JavaScript programming language using a block-based programming structure.
Understand the basics of JavaScript programming, including following programming structure standards in Computer Science.
Recognize the basics of U.S. Copyright Law and programming ethics in technology.
Learn UX/UI design skills while following the American with Disabilities Act Guidance on Web Accessibility Standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) from the World Wide Web Consortium.
Work with other students, and the instructor(s)/teaching assistant(s), on using teamwork to debug/build apps.
Create their own basic app using the Code.org App Lab platform.
